SNAP Gardens

When Daniel Bowman Simon discovered that SNAP recipients could buy seeds for edible plants with their food stamps, he was delighted at the possibilities this held for supporting food self-sufficiency in low-income communities. Then, when he realized that even staffers at the USDA didn’t realize this detail in the law, he decided to launch SNAP Gardens to help spread the word about seeds and food stamps. The Fund was one of Simon’s first supporters. Learn more at www.snapgardens.org.
